As a birthday present, I got myself this 2-disc DVD get...



It includes all 34 of the Chuck Jones directed Tom & Jerry animated shorts plus two documentaries.

Why do I prefer Tom & Jerry as directed by Chuck Jones versus the ones done by Gene Deitch, Fred Quimby and Hanna Barbara?

1. I find that I am tending to favor the key poses in Chuck Jones animations a lot more since the exaggeration and contrast are quite pronounced but somewhat simple and as a result way stronger than in those from other directors. Also the design of his cartoons is stylized a lot more. Gene Dietch is my second favorite Tom & Jerry director. Fred Quimby's work was okay but not great to me.
2. GREAT REFERENCE MATERIAL for school!

If I ever make it to Prague in the next year few years and hopefully he's still alive, I so want to meet Gene Deitch. He's 84 and still working on animations. That's just... full of all kinds of awesome and win!
